Whenever I talk about our closet door, the first question is: “Where’d you get those double doors from?” To which I excitedly share that it’s actually a bifold door!! And the follow up question is always: “Where’d you get those knobs from?”
You know how bifold doors always come with one knob? It kinda drives my symmetrical brain crazy! Yes, functionally it only needs one knob to open/close but…BUT…can we just take a second to acknowledge that all it takes is a second knob to make any bifold door look like a double door!? That’s it. It’s my favorite design hack that even my Grandma can do in her spare time! 🙂
So when I was giving our bifold door a makeover, I knew I needed two knobs for a double door look. But I didn’t want just any knobs, I wanted something antique…something bronzy with a natural patina. I went to a local antique shop that is known for carrying unusual pieces – hardware, hinges, lights, switch plates, etc.
I found a set of matching old brass backplates in the perfect size for our door. And Chris searched through a pile of cabinet knobs and somehow found a pair that matched perfectly with the backplates. The universe wanted us to have a win that day! 🙂
So the short answer is – the hardware is antique. But, I know a lot of you are on the hunt for something similar so I did some research myself and found a bunch of options!
NOTE: Because bifold doors don’t need knobs to function like a traditional door knob, I’ve linked “dummy knobs” which don’t spin, lock or latch. They’re less expensive and perfect for bifold doors! But if you need knobs that do latch, these also have a variety of latch options available!
