As I was putting together this month’s room makeover moodboard, I told Chris that this design realllly makes me want a dining room! It’s everything I love. Simple shapes, a mix of styles, a mix of textures, and so much warmth. It feels very approachable, yet sophisticated. And dang…that light. But I’m getting ahead of myself.
Starting with the most important pieces of the puzzle – the table and chairs. I love the combo of a black dining table with wood chairs. It’s rich, it’s luxurious, it’s warm. I couldn’t believe it when I saw that this dining table is only $400! And the reviews are amazing! A classic turned leg table is such a staple that can blend with a variety of styles.
The “Shaker with a modern twist” beechwood chairs are the perfect compliment to the traditional table. They have a classic shape, yet still feel fresh in the design world. Only $299 for a set of 2…a steal!
With all the hard surfaces, we need some texture. A pair of upholstered linen parsons chairs soften the look…and the room. These have the most beautiful creamy beige fabric. And at only $300 for a set of 2 chairs, this is another incredible deal!
Of course every dining room needs a chandelier to steal the show! I love how the rattan shade ties in with the wood tones in the chairs while the cluster of lights tie in with the black table. And yet it doesn’t look too matchy-matchy. This chandelier is an investment. With it being the focal point of the room, it’s important to me that it doesn’t look cheap…and here’s why. You could spend $1,000 on each piece of furniture, but a cheap looking like will downgrade the whole room. Meanwhile, you can be conservative with the price of the furniture, but a high end light with upgrade the whole room. It’s all about investing in the right pieces.
