Full of endless
fun, adventure galore, vacationing, and most importantly warm weather, summer
is considered by many as their favorite time of the year. Summer, just like any
season does not last long as it only stays for about three months. But that
does not mean you let go of being a beach bum because you can easily
incorporate it in your very own space, your house.
There are many
types of design to choose from when it comes to our home style. Traditional
interior, contemporary, industrial, rustic, and modern, but why not include a
summer vibe. If you are the kind of person who can’t get enough of the leisure
season, then redecorating your space that gives off the vibes can be worth it.
Here are some tips
to keep your room sunny, beachy, wavy and tropical just like the summer vibe.
Although the trend
has been going neutral, if you are after that a summer dream you need to put
color into your house. Pops of color needs to be installed in your
fixtures and furniture in order to match the season we are after. There are no
set of colors that strictly defines summer season, but it needs to be bright,
fun and eye-catching. The color that best defines summer though are:
When you think of
summer, what particular activity comes first in your mind? The beach right? And
what is abundant in the beach? Yep, the sand. Nothing makes a statement that
you have an official summer getaway that the feel of the sand touching the
soles of your feet. And if you want to put summer in your house, you need to
bring some sand in.
I am not talking
about changing with your carpet or wooden floors, rather you can put sand in a
jar and place it somewhere as a centerpiece. It could be in your coffee table,
in your room or in the bathroom. For sure everything you get a glimpse of it,
you will be reminded with the ocean breeze.
Designing and
decorating is not always about the sense of sight, the sense of smell is as important as it can
set the tone and vibe of a room. For summer enthusiast you need to think of scent
that reminds you of the activities, moments and events that closely relates to
the season. Some air fresheners have marketed themselves with things like ocean
breeze and what not, but they don’t feel natural and authentic.
I urge you to
create your own natural room spray. It is as simple as mixing lemon balm, lime
juice, lavender oil, coconut extract and maybe pineapple. Place them somewhere
where they can spread the pleasant odor and slowly make your living space
feeling and smelling like summer.
Your furniture and
decor are the main contributors to the atmosphere of your house or room. And
so, it is important to keep these things looking and feeling like you are in a
vacation. Woven items are the best thing to install and
place in your room if you want to incorporate the summer feels. They add the
texture that you need to achieve the outdoor vibe and they look cool, breezy
and natural – just like summer.
Summer is the time
when most flower blooms and so they can easily be associated with the season.
Place flowers in your room to add a pop of color, enjoy its beautiful fragrance
and invite the summer vibe. If you find tending to a living plant difficult and
a hassle, you can easily still incorporate it with design.
Floral patterns are
available in many household items, and the easiest would be pillow cases. Make
sure that the flower pattern design you are going to add shows fun, bright and
happy color, so that even though they are not real nor do they give off scent
at least they look fresh.
