Here’s something we don’t talk about enough – where do you guys put your dirty laundry!? Sure, some people have actual laundry rooms with space to organize 1 basket per person and some have full cabinetry with pull out hampers…you know you’re blessed and I don’t need to remind you of that. 🙂
I’m asking the people who have a washer and dryer tucked in a hallway closet, a tiny bathroom just big enough to walk in, and a bedroom closet that fits your clothes and nothing more. Where do YOU put your dirty laundry?
We’ve been dealing with dirty piles in the bathroom and a mound…sorry…mountain of blankets and sheets on the floor of our laundry “room” (it’s more of a walkway) long enough. Both spaces will someday be remodeled (the laundry room sooner than later) and I’ve come to the realization that while we might not have the space to do the kind of hidden storage I *really* want, we CAN utilize hampers better. Lots of hampers in lots of rooms. One in our bathroom, 2 in our laundry room, and I might add one in our bedroom closet if space allows. My hope is that as long as there’s a hamper nearby, we’ll reduce the pile that inevitably grows in the walkways.
And when a hamper can’t be hidden behind closed doors, a hamper that looks more like a decorative basket is the route to go.
I’ve done my research and rounded up 16 of my favorite woven hampers…the kind that can be left in plain sight. Some with handles, some without, all with lids, and a variety of sizes. I love the shapes of #1, 7, and 5. #14 has the most beautiful varied black coloring. But when I saw the basketweave water hyacinth hampers, (#6) well you can understand why I couldn’t say no.
