Whenever interior designers or design enthusiasts share their style, it’s usually a combination of answers – modern traditional, english cottage meets California casual, industrial and contemporary, eclectic and farmhouse…you get the picture.
It’s actually pretty rare to see a home that exclusively represents only one style, but rather a tasteful mix of 2 or 3. That’s what makes our styles and homes so unique…and that’s also what makes it so difficult to pinpoint what our personal preferences actually are.
I think most people fall into one of 5 camps –

Which statement do you resonate with the most?
I think I most often fall into camp #2 because I know what I like when I see it, but not everything I love works for my home. This year I gave my home’s style a new name – rustic meets California casual. As soon as I gave my style a name that fit the architecture of my home, things started to click. I had a sense of direction for our home that made the most sense of any style that I’ve claimed to have in the past. And now when I’m planning an update for our home or purchasing furniture, I ask myself, “Does this fit the architecture of our home? Does this fall into a rustic, cabin, or California Casual style?” 9 times out of 10 my answer makes the decision for me!
